Under construction
I think my life has been pretty funny and weird up to this point so I feel like sharing. Don't take most things I say too seriously, this is just a fun exercise to get the chronically-online, share-your-entire-life-narcissism out of my system (but also I think there is value in documenting quotidian and deeply personal activities online. Fuck anyone who says that women should stop oversharing online. We deserve to overshare--as long as its not hurting anybody. Documentation can be radical, and it is a historically feminine practice. Now let's get down and dirty...)
How it started
Well well well. Look at what we have here. A baby was born or whatever. I wanna make this easier for you so I'll just put in bullets the main events during the time period between baby-hood and teenage-hood.
- Birth location: 2001 Alabama, USA. The most cursed location for the most lovely, sleepy baby to arrive on planet Earth.
- A few months later, my family (Cheri-mom, Mark-dad, Emma-sister) moved to Cos Cob (aka "corn on the cob"), CT.
- Had some fun memories, made my first bff Betsy DaSilva (shout out).
- Dun dun DUN. My dad moved us to good old Flo-Ri-Da. Fort Walton Beach to be exact. What a crappy, crappy town. Loved the friends I made, they are all gay and tatted and pierced up now like me. I love how childhood friends grow up to be pretty much the same. At least in my case.
- Went to middle school in an old Walmart. Yeah.
How it was going
Awkward teenagers assemble
- Got the hell out of Florida and made it to New York City! Actually I made it to Long guy land. I didn't mind it but I hated my high school. I was in the closet and felt like I would genuinely be miserable if everyone knew I was gay (rumors, discrimination, weird questions, exaggerated excitement from others was #1 on my avoid at all costs list. I wanted to get the hell out of high school. I hated being perceived. I hated people knowing I was queer before I wanted them to.)
- Went to McGill University. Fucked some virgins, developed an eating disorder, and made some incredible friendships.
- Got in a relationship with Eric. It was really good. But the pandemic fucking hit 2 weeks later so I was back to Long Guy Land, the land of self-hatred.
- Eating disorder outpatient camp during the pandemic! Yay! ED conversations need to be happening way fucking more often. Fatphobia literally kills people. So let's everyone shut up about diets and weight loss okay :)
How its happening now
Slightly more self-confident person in her 20s
- Moved in with my boyfriend. Learned a lot about communication (I hate when they're right about communication being central to a working relationship. Like hello! Can I just have peace instead!?!). Still learning. One of us is gonna move out so we can continue growing as people, separately.
- Trying to rewrite the catastrophic break up narrative in my head. Things are always more complicated than black or white.
